At Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher, we are committed to the communities in which we serve and work within. That is why we spend hundreds of hours every year volunteering our personal time to an array of community activities and volunteer efforts. We strongly believe in giving back and in helping the organizations that strive to improve the lives of people around us all.

June 23rd - United Way Legal Day of Caring
James E. Gatzke
- Founder and current President of the Board of Directors for New Berlin SAYES. SAYES is a not-for-profit agency that enlists a corps of youth and adult volunteers who stand ready to help senior citizens and people with disabilities at no expense.
- Has served as board member on the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce.
- Currently serves as board member of the Waukesha Family YMCA.
- Founder of the New Berlin Youth Advisory Board and has served for three years on the Board of Directors. The Youth Advisory Board was created to provide regular updates on issues that concern youth.
- Involved with the formation of the New Berlin Teen Court as part of the organizing counsel and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is ran by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
- Served four years as Chairman of the City of New Berlin Plan Commission.
- Has been and is currently actively involved with the New Berlin Athletic Association (NBAA) for more than 20 years.
- Past President of the New Berlin West Youth Football Club and served on the board for 6 years.
- Serves as current advisory counsel to the Waukesha Express Swim Club.
- Past Vice-Chairman of the Education Council for the United States Conference of Mayors.
Mark A. Ruppelt
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is ran by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
- Actively involved with surrounding school districts. Has served as guest speaker focusing on crime and social issues to community's youth. Has also served as advisor for co-op programs in surrounding school districts for 6+ years. This program allows students to learn various aspects of the legal profession by participating in 'on the job' activities.
- Mark also spends his time coaching his son's youth hockey team, Winter Club from University School in River Hills. His son, Jack, skates at the "Squirt" level.
Thomas C. Simon
- Active board member of the Cricket Academy of Chinese Language and Culture which is a program designed through the Milwaukee Area- Families with Children from China.
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is ran by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
Steven J. Lownik
- Served as President of the New Berlin West Soccer Booster Club.
- Served in numerous coaching and assistant coaching positions for surrounding community teams including New Berlin Youth Football and New Berlin Youth Soccer.
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is ran by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
ReAnna C. Grabow
- Serves as active volunteer for the Waukesha County Family Legal Clinic which offers individuals who are pro se litigants (people representing themselves) with family court information and public resources.
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is ran by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
- Has been involved in volunteering for various New Berlin community organizations including the New Berlin Junior Woman's Club.
Paul Bucher
- Runs marathons to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), and served on the Board of Directors. The LLS is dedicated to providing funds for research and education, as well as finding a cure for the blood cancers leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, and myeloma.
- Serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Potawatomi Council Boy Scouts of America. The Potawatomi Boy Scouts' goals are to prepare young boys to make ethical decisions throughout their life by instilling in them the value of the Scout Oath and Law (http://www.pacbsa.org/).
- Teaches Criminal Law at WCTC and Criminal Procedure at Carroll University.
- Belongs to the Early Risers Service Club of Waukesha. The Early Risers have been dedicated to making Waukesha a better community, and providing the resources and manpower to help those in need.
- Active Member of the Waukesha Republican Party.
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is run by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
Gus Pick
- Volunteers for many programs and services run by the Hales Corners Lutheran Church.
- Active participant of New Berlin Teen Court and currently serves as Judge, along with other attorneys from Gatzke, Ruppelt, and Bucher. Teen Court is a court that is run by teens for teens. It's designed to hold teens accountable for their actions and is an option for first time juvenile offenders of non-violent municipal ordinances.
